Who are the most influential French CEOs on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is the social network of choice for French executives. But who is the platform's boss?

In 2024, social networks are an integral part of the communication strategies of corporate, institutional and start-up leaders. LinkedIn is the social network of choice for French executives, offering them a platform to assert their leadership, share their values and position themselves as mentors. But who are the most influential French CEOs on the platform?

The answer is Visibrain, the social network monitoring tool, which has unveiled its latest study " LinkedIn: the strategies of French business leaders ", revealing the main influence trends of 10 French business leaders.

Alexandre Bompard (Carrefour CEO) reigns supreme on LinkedIn

Among the many social media platforms, French CEOs are embracing LinkedIn as a means of expression. Privileged over Elon Musk's social network, these leading figures generate 45 times more engagement than on X. Whether discreet or expansive, each French executive adopts a personal publication rhythm. Carrefour CEO Alexandre Bompard leads the way with his mastery of the platform's codes (41,385 reactions). He is followed by Estelle Brachlianoff, head of Veolia, with 31,115 reactions. In third place was Benoît Bazin, CEO of Saint-Gobain (25,782 reactions).

The winning strategies of Alexandre Bompard, Estelle Brachlianoff and Benoît Bazin

The human dimension is undeniably at the heart of the Carrefour CEO's editorial line. King of selfies, he favors photos (82% ) over videos (18%) to share his daily life as an executive in an authentic way. Internal communication, official announcements and his statements on environmental issues are all themes on which he positions himself. His community on LinkedIn is substantial: he is followed by twice as many people as on X.

For her part, Estelle Brachlianoff's strategy focuses on her commitment to the environment. Her educational tone on the professional social network sets her apart from her peers. She uses numerous hashtags in this sense, such as #energy, #ecologicaltransformation and #changementclimatique.

Benoît Bazin, CEO of Saint-Gobain, is on an institutional register. He accumulates over 25,700 reactions on his publications, which share factual information such as official announcements or financial results. He distinguishes himself by communicating exclusively about his company.

Embodying the challenges facing our society: French CEOs take up the challenge on LinkedIn

Leading figures are moving away from their formal posture on social networks. Increasingly, they are highlighting societal issues and revealing their values through personal commitment. Ecology, feminism, politics and artificial intelligence are just some of the issues on which they are taking a stand.

Mainly driven by Veolia's CEO, environmental issues are addressed with hashtags such as #pfas or #wastewater. Leadership is also discussed by these personalities through hashtags such as #economy or #productivity. With a central place in the business world, artificial intelligence is at the heart of many discussions with hashtags such as #ai or #innovation.

Take on the role of ambassador, the mission of French CEOs on LinkedIn

French CEOs position themselves as true ambassadors for their companies. Sharing company news, relaying events, broadcasting advertising campaigns or speaking engagements are just a few examples of the missions accepted by the CEOs analyzed.

Another trend observed is the relaying of job offers in LinkedIn feeds. Firmin Zocchetto (PayFit), Bertrand Dumazy (Edenred) and Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve (Alan) are all quick to share upcoming recruitments for their teams.

Sharing expertise and advice: the keys to success on LinkedIn

A handful of French CEOs use LinkedIn to share their entrepreneurial advice. They focus on topics such as mental health, work/life balance and the changing face of management. Like the CEO of start-up Alan, who regularly shares his advice on the social network: the benefits of walking on a daily basis, interviews with celebrities such as Nikola Karabatic on the importance of patience and resilience... Jean-Charles Samuelian adopts the role of influencer. Meanwhile, Melissa Di Donato, head of Kyriba, expresses her views on the changing role of the CFO in business, and shares advice that has resonated with her.
