Meta launches a social network to compete with Twitter

Since Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, the social network has been constantly rethinking not only its strategy, but also the new ergonomics of its platform. Needless to say, these changes are not to the delight of all the network's users. So Meta, as a generous company, is planning a twitter 2.0 to welcome the lost souls left behind by Twitter.

Meta explains:

"We're exploring the idea of a decentralized autonomous social network for sharing text publications. We think there's an opportunity for a space where creators and public figures can exchange."

This new Eldorado of the twittosphere is called Barcelona, and is being sold by the American giant as "the Instagram of your thoughts".

And while Baudelaire' s poetic catchphrase leaves us wanting for more, we have little information about the aesthetics of this new platform.

Screenshots from developer Alessandro Peluzzi inform us that it will be possible to publish posts of 500 characters. An interesting content strategy, going against Twitter's improvements, which aim to expand posts to 10,000 characters.

Meta's Twitter, when's it coming out?

For the time being, Barcelona remains in the project stage, and although it does seem to be emerging, there's no guarantee that it will actually see the light of day.
