Instagram: download reels from your favorite content creators

After several months of testing, the reel download option has arrived on the platform. Focus on Instagram's newest feature.

After several months of testing, the reel download option has arrived on the platform.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri explains:

"In the U.S., we've introduced the ability to download reels shared by public accounts to your camera roll. Simply tap the 'Share' icon of a reel you like and select 'Download'."

What does this mean for content creators?

Content creators can refuse to download the real thing they publish, by deactivating the option in their settings. While this is an interesting new feature for users of the social network, it's surprising that it hasn't been offered before. On TikTok, video uploads have been available since the platform's launch. One imagines that Instagram has long wished to protect its content creators from the risk of intellectual property infringement.

When will the reels be available for download?

For the moment, no fixed date has been announced for Europe. The option has been developed in several regions of the United States, and is expected to expand outside the U.S. rapidly.

For our part, we're delighted with this small improvement. Our only question concerns music export. For copyright reasons, we're not sure that all videos will be able to be downloaded with the music chosen by content creators. To be continued.
