Linkedin to do away with carousel posts

Linkedin has announced the end of carousel posts, starting next month. So are carousel posts really the end?

Linkedin has announced the end of carousel posts, starting next month. In addition to doing away with one of the media whose engagement rate remains attractive to many content creators, the social network has also announced the end of videos on profiles and clickable links on media.

Linkedin explains:

"As of December 14, 2023, we will be removing all carousels and profile videos from LinkedIn. If you have embedded clickable links in an image or video, please note that your content will remain, but the clickable links will no longer work. You can still share external links in the description of any post."

This announcement is nothing new, since last June Linkedin announced the end of carousel posts and videos on profiles.

Carousel posts: the true end of the medium?

Not really. When Linkedin says it wants to do away with carousels, it's talking about its native carousel option integrated last year. For most users, adding a carousel is done via a PDF, an action that so far doesn't seem to be pending removal by Linkedin.

A Linkedin deletion as of December 14

Announced for December 14, once this date has passed, all your carousels made with Linkedin's native option, as well as videos on your profiles and clickable links on media, will be removed.
