TikTok launches Series, an option for monetizing your videos

LikeInstagram, one of TikTok's challenges is to monetize its videos.

Monetizing short videos is a challenge, since it's impossible to introduce paid advertising in videos, as YouTube does (a little too much).

TikTok: how to monetize videos?

TikTok launches Series, an option allowing creators to charge for certain content.

TikTok explains:

"Developed with our community's love of sharing authentic stories, expertise and experiences, Series allows eligible creators to post Collections of premium content behind a paywall that viewers can purchase to access. A Series can comprise up to 80 videos, each lasting up to 20 minutes, offering web users a new, longer format in which to watch their favorite creators and content."

Going in the opposite direction to paid advertising, payments will be made directly on the platform.

With this option, content creators will be able to broaden their means of monetization. In a way, this practice reminds us of platforms with paid creative content, such as OnlyFans or Mym (minus the adult content).

The Series format will considerably broaden the scope of TikTok stars, enabling them to publish exclusive, paid content for their biggest fans. Monetization could lead creators to devote more time to developing their audience on TikTok.

TikTok videos - at what price?

TikTok tells us that creators will be able to set prices based on between $1 and $190.

Video monetization: when's it coming out?

For the moment, TikTok has given no release date for its Series option. According to the information we have, monetization should be integrated by TikTok in 2023.
