A few months ago, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announcedthe arrival of reel downloads on the platform. While a test phase was first undertaken in the United States before the option was rolled out nationwide, it's only now that the update is available to the rest of the world.

How does downloading reels work?

You don't have to be a computer genius to understand how downloading reels on Instagram works. When you hold your finger on the screen, a "download" button appears. All you have to do is click on it.

Is downloading reels a good idea?

One might well wonder whether, with this option, Instagram might be facilitating a form of infringement of intellectual property rights. After all, what could be easier than downloading a reel and reposting it on your profile? To these injunctions, Instagram has replied that, on the contrary, if videos are reposted, the algorithms will be able to detect them thanks to the Instagram logo present on the videos, and that they will give less visibility to duplicate content.
