Aya Nakamura: her performance at the Olympics is the #1 TikTok trend

On TikTok, Aya Nakamura's performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics has become a viral trend.

During the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, artists took it in turns to deliver a show equal to the splendor of Paris, and worthy of our French cultural heritage. Among the most notable performances was that of Aya Nakamura, who set a viral trend on TikTok.

Aya Nakamura: her intoxicating performance at the Paris Olympics

A few months ago, singer Aya Nakamura 's participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games ceremony was roundly criticized by certain political parties. Marine Le Pen even said:"She doesn't sing foreign either. She sings who knows what. No, it's not métissage, it's nonsense. So if people like it, fine. That it represents France, no, I'm sorry, I don't like it."

Aya Nakamura was quick to respond, mixing her most popular songs with Charles Aznavour's famous lyrics: "Je ferai bien de choisir mon vocabulaire, pour te plaire, dans la langue de Molière" ("I'd better choose my vocabulary, to please you, in the language of Molière"). An assertive, classy performance, perfectly staged on the Pont des Arts in the heart of Paris.

Since the opening ceremony, tourists and Parisians alike have flocked to the Pont des Arts to reproduce Aya Nakamura's now iconic performance. On TikTok, thousands of videos featuring the music have since been posted. While some write in their video "Aya, when will your Olympic hit be available?", others cover it in acting, or in inspiring dance performances. But if Internet users are getting hold of the trend, they're not the only ones. Brands are multiplying their viral content on TikTok, following the example of Lego :

Aya Nakamura's visibility explodes worldwide

Aya Nakamura has never been so sought-after. According to Shazam, her hit Djadja is in the top 5 most tracked songs, followed by Pookie, which tops the search charts in no less than 33 countries. In total, searches for Aya Nakamura on Shazam have increased by 1800% since the Olympic Games ceremony.

A bewildering performance, an improbable and masterful cover of one of France's greatest songs - in short, it didn't take much to make Aya the new queen of TikTok trends at the end of July.
