TikTok extends the "Add to Music" feature to over 160 countries.

The TikTok "Add to Music" feature is now available in over 160 countries.

At the end of 2023, TikTok introduced a new "Add to Music App" feature which, as the name suggests, allows users to quickly save a song they've heard in a TikTok video to Apple Music, Spotify or even Amazon Music. While this feature was previously only available to users in the US and UK, the platform is now making it available in more parts of the world.

TikTok extends "Add to music" functionality to more countries

By December, the feature had already been extended to 19 new countries, including Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. With the current expansion, the Add to Music feature is now available in over 160 countries, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Qatar, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine and Uruguay. "The new Add to Music App feature is designed to help music fans capture the songs they love on TikTok the moment they discover them, and easily save the song to their favorite music streaming service to enjoy whenever they want," says TikTok in a blog post .

TikTok makes it easy to add songs to Spotify or Apple Music

When the user watches a TikTok video with background music, the application will display the "Add music" button. With a simple click, the user can add this song to his or her personal music library. The track is saved to a default playlist in the chosen music streaming service, but users can also choose to add the track to a new playlist or to an existing playlist they have created.

Eventually, TikTok Music, ByteDance's streaming music platform, currently only available in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore and Indonesia, has indicated that it is working to make the Add to Music App feature available to TikTok Music users, to encourage song export.

For its part, in addition to forming a partnership with TikTok, Spotify has also integrated with BeReal , Instagram , Snapchat and X (ex-Twitter) to make it easier for users to add songs to Spotify.
