Instagram has discreetly added a secret emoji game that you can access in your DMs. The aim of the game is simple: use your finger to move the palette at the bottom of your screen to keep your emoji afloat and bouncing continuously. Drop your emoji and you're done. A game reminiscent of those pre-installed on the first generations of cell phones (RIP Nokia 3310), such as Breakout or Pong.

How do you find the game hidden in Instagram messages?

To access the hidden game, simply open a DM chat, send an emoji and click on it. This will take you to a yellow screen with a black bar at the bottom and an emoji of your choice. The higher your score, the faster the emoji will move across your screen.

Instagram has developed an easter egg to kill time

According to tests, you can use the emoji of your choice, but you can only access the game by sending a single emoji. The game saves your best score, so you can come back to it at any time to try and beat your previous score. Your best score is saved in your Instagram DMs, so you don't need to go back to the first emoji you sent when activating the game. You can also activate the game by clicking on an emoji that someone else has sent in a DM.

Of course, to avoid any misunderstanding, it's advisable to tell the other person in the chat what you're doing. They might think you're reacting to a message or trying to start a conversation.

Although the game works on both iOS and Android, unfortunately not everyone would have access to it (probably due to the version).
