Instagram announces new features for messages

You exchange daily on Instagram with posts and stories, but you mostly do it privately through messages. These new features should interest you.

Edit your Instagram posts

If you notice a typo or your post doesn't suit you, Instagram now lets you edit your posts up to 15 minutes after you've sent them.

What to do?

To make an edit, long-press the sent message, then choose Edit from the drop-down menu.

Pin a discussion in the messaging system

If you'd like easier access to discussions with your best friends or family, or would like to make certain discussions more accessible, you'll soon be able to pin up to three groups or individual discussions.

What to do?

To move a thread to the top of your inbox, drag it to the left or press and hold it down, then press Pin. You can detach a thread at any time.

Enable or disable read confirmations in DMs

Read confirmations let others know that you've read their message. Instagram now lets you choose whether to enable or disable read confirmations, for all your discussions or for specific ones.

What to do?

- Go to account settings
- Press Messages and replies to stories
- Press Show read confirmations
- Activate or deactivate read confirmations for all your discussions

Save your favorite stickers and improve the quality of your answers

You can now save your favorite stickers to your Instagram DMs for easy access. Simply long-press the sticker you want to save, and it will appear first the next time you access the stickers. What's more, you can send stickers, GIFs, videos, photos and voice messages when you reply to a message.

What to do?

Long press on the message you wish to reply to, select Reply and the "voicestickerscontent" options will be displayed.

Personalize your discussions with more themes

Love, Lollipops, Avatar, The Last Airbender... Change the mood of your discussions with themes. Whether you're planning a meeting or just joking around with friends, there's a theme for everything.

What to do?

To change the theme of a discussion, press the discussion name at the top, go to the themes tab and choose one of the available themes.
